Palazzo Loup, also known as Villa della Fratte, is an 18th century residence located in the hamlet of Scanello, in the township of Loiano, 30 kilometers from Bologna.

It was built on the ruins of the medieval Scanello Castle, on lands which at the time belonged to the Countess Matilda of Tuscany, also known as Matilde of Canossa.

The name “Loup” is in homage to its illustrious owner Luigi Loup, the Swiss nobleman and agronomist who transformed the Scanello property into a modern agricultural facility.

To stay at Palazzo Loup is to immerse yourself in history and the wonders of nature.

All 49 guestrooms (suites, doubles and singles), finely furnished and equipped with every convenience, provide a magnificent view of the surrounding hillsides.

The Palazzo is set in the midst of grounds consisting in a lovely 10.00 mq park with centuries-old, hardwood trees. Enjoy the breathtaking views while relaxing poolside at the Palazzo’s own beautiful swimming pool, adding to its appeal for a perfect family holiday.

The Loup family’s former wine cellars now house the hotel’s fine restaurant, Le Volte. In the summer, building’s charming portico becomes an exquisite outdoor dining room.

The menu adds an imaginative twist to traditional Italian recipes, using only the freshest seasonal ingredients to best show off the excellence of local products.

The wine list also reflects this same philosophy, offering a vast selection of regional and domestic wines, with a focus on the classics.

Palazzo Loup, along with its magnificently beautiful grounds, offers splendid meeting rooms and reception halls which, paired with over twenty years of hospitality experience, make it an ideal location for parties or corporate events.
